EDDI GOES EAST: A PROJECT TO HELP YOUNG PEOPLE AFFECTED BY THE 2004 TSUNAMI IN SRI LANKA
In December 2013 I visited Eddi at Eagle House and was able to see the EGE project at first hand.
I filmed various bits and mashed them together into a 12 minute video.

Greetings from Eagle House, and thank you for all your support over the last few years. The two year EGE project has run for nearly four years but it is time for me to come home. Activities at Eagle House will end here in May 2014, but will be transferring to a new community space which we are creating. We have been given the land and will build a dance, music, play and meeting space with a toilet and store. It will be managed by Mangelika and the Village Officer and will provide a much needed communal space for the village.
Our Hikka Homecraft project has grown from the original sewing class and now a group of women are now making and selling small craft items for tourists. The women will work from home under the watchful eye of Mangelika, and take a percentage of the sales. We are currently testing what sells best and aim to make Hikka Homecraft an independent cooperative by next year.
