I returned from a three week visit to Sri Lanka in the spring.
Some friends who are involved in the Hikkaduwa Area Relief Fund (HARF), thought I
might enjoy some time helping raise funds and, sure enough, I returned to the UK
full of enthusiasm.
There are great possibilities for building on the excellent foundation laid down
by HARF and it will be possible to make a significant difference for those coping
with the aftermath of the devastating Tsunami.
I will be raising funds to support a number of activities developed in association
with the UK medical profession to help emotionally disturbed young people in the
UK. I know these techniques work and raise the self esteem and positive experiences
of young people of the Dudanduwa region.
The building where the project was to be housed was destroyed by a hurricane earlier
in the year (2010). Fortunately a new building has been found. It is called Suranadama.
Unfortunately it is in need of some work before it is fit for the dog to live in
(see pictures on right) - so that’s another item on the To Do list.
